Public health funerals have also been previously known as national assistance funerals and pauper funerals. If a person dies within the Brent area and there are no known relatives or friends able to make the necessary arrangements, then the Council is required (under The Public Health (Control of Diseases) Act 1984) to register the death and arrange the funeral. Residents of Brent who pass away in another area are not the responsibility of the Council.

In accordance with the FOI act 2000, the last known address can be withheld under the following exemption: Section 31(1)(a) - Law enforcement (prevention and detection of crime). We will not disclose details of the full last known address of the deceased as the address if unoccupied might still contain the deceased's personal effects. We do not believe it to be in the public interest to disclose information relating to unoccupied properties were releasing that information into the public domain could prejudice the prevention of crime.”
